Special Correspondent Live at the 27th Annual Federal Women's Conference

As I blogged yesterday from the Federal Women's Conference, I couldn't help but to look around at all the women attending and think to myself, there is such power in sisterhood. The nearly 700 women that attended this conference was proof that by establishing a strong foundation in networking and sharing information that we [women] have the power to do anything we set out to do, all we need is courage to step out there.

Afternoon Keynote Speaker
Afternoon keynote speaker Kate Campbell Stevenson delivered a powerful and inspirational impersonation of Eleanore Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States (1933-1945). Kate brought Mrs. Roosevelt to life as she portrayed her transformation from a quiet, low keyed woman (her nickname was Granny), to one that was able to overcome her fear of public speaking. Mrs. Roosevelt began to take on the challenge of speaking to groups when her husbad began to fall ill. As she evolved, she made it a point of educating women about the importance of making sure their voice was heard, emphasizing that as women, we must step outside of our shell and do what is inside of you. Choose not to let your fears direct your life and don't be afraid to let your voice be heard. Step outside of your shell and do what is in you. WE ARE CAPABLE!! It's up to you.

Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to blog with you this afternoon, I had a wonderful time at this (my 2nd) conference. I too am an entrepreneur and I believe its this type of networking and fellowship that really goes a long way into bringing women together. We have to reaffirm in ourselves our self worth and our capabilities, we can not afford to leave it to others to define us. During this tough economic time, we have to secure our futures and we have to create relationships with other like-minded women that think like we think and have similar interest.
